Print resolution calculator

Check whether an image is sharp enough to print at the size you need, and see the biggest size it can go.

Why 300 PPI

PPI is pixels divided by printed inches. Commercial printing usually asks for 300 PPI at final size because that is roughly where the eye stops seeing individual pixels at reading distance. Enlarging a photo in software adds pixels but no detail, so the number to trust is the original file's.

Viewing distance changes everything. A billboard read from 20 metres is fine at 20 PPI. A poster on a wall works at 150. A business card does not. Logos and type should be vector anyway, which has no resolution at all.
